Restyled Kenya Cafetière
Tuesday, April 1, 2008
The Kenya cafetière with ‘keyhole’ frame has been fully re-designed for 2008. Now available in two finishes - black and stainless steel, it is the most elegant way to serve coffee at table. Not only do these new models look good, being manufactured by Bodum, establishments can be sure they will last, too. The glass liners are made from tough borosilicate glass, which is heat resistant and the Kenya cafetières themselves are completely dishwasher safe. Each model is available in a choice of 3- or 8-demitasse sizes.
Cafetière coffee making is acknowledged by experts to be one of the best and most natural ways to brew coffee. It maximises the brewing process and preserves the essential oils and acids that give coffee its balance and flavour. It is essentially the same method coffee tasters use when ‘cupping’ their samples in coffee sale rooms. Once brewing has taken place, the plunger is depressed to prevent over extraction, a major cause of bitter coffee complaints.
Speaking about the new products, Marketing Manager for John Artis, Christina Emerson, pointed out how cafetières of this quality can add value to coffee service: “When served on a tray with milk, sugar and petits fours accompaniments, they will enable caterers and hoteliers to charge a premium. Naturally, every drop of coffee made in this way is paid for and that is in stark contrast to the ‘bottomless cup’, where customers have become used to free ‘top ups’ of filter coffee.”
KENYA TEA PRESS
The Kenya cafetière is joined in the John Artis range by the newly re-styled Kenya tea press. The tea press features a leaf tea infuser with plunger so that spent leaves can be neatly disposed of. It has a borosilicate bowl with a black keyhole frame matching the Kenya cafetière.
The Kenya cafetière in black has a list price of £9.98 for the 3-cup and £14.98 for the 8-cup. The stainless steel model costs £25.00 and £35.00 respectively. The Kenya tea press is £12.50 for the half litre size and £14.50 for the one litre. The Kenya ranges are amongst many new products included in the 2008 John Artis catalogue.
